Steinhagen, January 2007. Hörmann has expanded its wide range of door elements and frames with its new visibility windows. The multi-purpose glazings can be installed in various functional areas and easily meet high design standards. Now Hörmann partners can choose the elements they need from a complete range of fire and smoke protection systems and combine them individually.
Transparency and visibility is an important factor when designing interior spaces and with good reason, as daylight and improved eye contact not only improve the working atmosphere, but also contribute to better security. Therefore visibility glazings are an important element, especially when designing commercial buildings. In some sectors, they are even obligatory if constant observation must be assured, as in hospitals.
Visibility windows meeting every demand
The new Hörmann multi-purpose glazings with steel frames can be used as transom lights, visibility windows or complete elements over the full height of the room. The insulation glazing HW-D-Iso is specially adapted to separate areas with different temperature levels such as offices in a warehouse or in the production and delivery department. The Ug value (thermal insulation) is 1.1 W/m2K.
Howeverthe acoustic insulation between neighbouring rooms or halls is also an important factor. Even a small difference of only three decibels is clearly audible. That’s why Hörmann now offers the acoustic insulation glazing HW-D-SD. The acoustic value is RRW.c:38 db for single-sided glazing and RW.c:51 db for double-sided glazing. The radiation protection glazing HW-D-PB is designed especially for installations in medical environments to protect against x-rays. A lead equivalent indicating the value to classify the level of protection of up to 3.5 is reached. In the case of a fire, fire protection glazings HW 330 G, HW 130 F and HW 190 F for G30, F30 and F 90 offer effective protection against the propagation of fire and smoke.
All visibility windows can be equipped with additional features. The insulation glazing HW-D-ISO, for example, can be equipped with radiation shielding, fire protection or improved acoustic insulation.
Design variations with different profile frames
The high quality of Hörmann’s visibility windows is also reflected by their various design options. If planning dictates or individual taste demands, the glazings can be equipped with different profile frames. Choices include a clamping profile, rectangular tube profile, Z angle glazing bead or glazing without glazing bead.
Integrated view protection
New: view protection integrated into the glazing. This feature helps while designing rooms and regulates luminosity. In addition, it serves as protection against light and improves privacy in hospitals, for example. Hörmann’s view protection for visibility windows is also available as a shade to darken the room and can be operated with a 24-volt motor. A window blind can also be integrated into the glass and operated by a 24-volt motor or manually.
Different models
The visibility windows with flush-fitting glazing are available in two different versions. In the flush-fitting version, the glazing is mechanically fixed into the door frame. This fixing is invisible and responds to demands for maximum transparency. The second version is a profile model with edge recess. The window pane is surface mounted and fixed on the frame depth (Z-angle glazing bead). The window panes of the flush-fitting constructions have an enamel lining, resulting in a smoother and more attractive window appearance. Both versions are available with integrated view protection. In addition, double-sided glazing improves acoustic insulation.
Easy fitting
Easy fitting, a reliable design and low risk are
important criteria for a successful construction. That’s why Hörmann’s
visibility windows are completely pre-assembled. Thus, time-consuming assembly
of the individual elements on site is no longer necessary, saving time and
preventing the loss of essential small parts such as screws or dowels.
